school fundraising

The story so far...
At The Royal Marsden, we specialise in treating people with cancer - 40,000 of them a year in fact. And as some of our patients are smaller than others we've got a special children's unit called The Wolfson Children and Adolescent Unit. It's a very special place and one of the largest children's units in the UK, seeing more then 300 young patients and families a year.

Today, 1 in 650 children develop cancer but thanks to places like The Wolfson Children and Adolescent Unit three-quarters of them are cured and go on to become wrinkly old grown-ups.

The big task!
Our task is to raise half a million pounds a year to keep improving with the latest technology, research and treatments.

That's why we're calling on...
Captain Chemo and you to help us do just that. Captain Chemo and his Chemo Command have a dual mission - to help you learn more about childhood cancers and their treatment, but also to join you in your fundraising to help us raise the money which our Royal Marsden team needs.

The Adventures of Captain Chemo were created by Benjamin de Garis who died in July 1998 aged 18, having had treatment at The Royal Marsden Hospital since he was 13. Visit the website to learn more about cancer and its treatment. Most importantly, assist the Captain and his Chemo Command on their quest to maneuver the Chemo Craft to shoot and destroy tumours and bacteria.

Join our daredevil cadets
There are a number of ways you can help The Royal Marsden:

• Join the class of 2008 and select The Royal Marsden as your Charity of the Year - fundraising with the Chemo Command throughout the year
• Become an honorary Cadet for the day by holding a Captain Chemo Day at your school and fundraise for The Royal Marsden's Wolfson Children and Adolescent Unit

To help you along the way, Captain Chemo has some great ideas of what Cadets can do with his A-Z of fundraising ideas.
