About The Royal Marsden School of Cancer Nursing and Rehabilitation

I am delighted to welcome you to our webpages.  The Royal Marsden is a special place to study with cancer specific education taught by those who are also involved in giving care on a regular basis.

The modules and programmes offered here have been updated over the last year taking account both of feedback from previous students and recent changes in cancer care treatment and service delivery.  The majority of our programmes will have been validated by Kingston / St George’s, University of London.

This new collaborative relationship with Kingston / St George’s has enabled us to develop a new pathway; MSc Advanced Practice (Cancer) for nurses and allied health professionals.  This is a very exciting and timely addition to the programmes we offer and part of our commitment to multi professional education.

As our breadth of programmes increases, so too does the number of students from across the UK.  This will enhance your learning opportunities providing a national perspective of cancer care.

If your passion is caring for individuals with cancer, we are the place to come for education and support.  We provide an education in cancer care, not just a qualification.  If we can help you decide how our programmes can support your development, please contact us on 0207 808 2900.

From September 2010, the majority of the School's programmes will be validated by Kingston/St. George's, University of London. However, despite this change, we will still continue to run our highly regarded diploma and degree programmes at The Royal Marsden's hospital in Chelsea.

In conjunction with the University we are delighted to announce the development of a new master's level programme: MSc Advanced Practice (Cancer). This course is ideal for those healthcare professionals (nurses and allied health professionals) who are interested in gaining an advanced practice qualification which allows them to focus on developing in-depth knowledge of a specific area.

We are now also able to offer a Graduate Diploma in Cancer Care. This course is specifically for healthcare professionals who already have a first degree but want to undertake a cancer specialist programme.

Dedicated to cancer education

For over 150 years, The Royal Marsden has been passionate about sharing its knowledge of cancer. This passion and commitment led us to develop The Royal Marsden School of Cancer Nursing and Rehabilitation, the UK's only dedicated provider of cancer education.

Education and training for all

The School offers cancer education for a range of healthcare professionals – from those needing a general introduction to cancer care through to clinical specialists wanting a course to support them in practice.

Our students range from those at the very beginning of their career through to cancer professionals making a difference at a national level. Whether based in NHS or private hospitals, hospices, primary care trusts or charities, our students are united by an interest in, and a commitment to, patient care.

Expert teaching

Whoever our students are, we want to help them to make a difference in cancer care. We know from feedback that what our students value is that all our education programmes are taught by people actually involved in clinical practice. Uniquely, this is why all of our academic staff continue to be actively involved in patient care.

It is also why clinical specialists from The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, The Institute of Cancer Research and other organisations are so enthusiastically involved in our programmes. Our courses may involve teaching from clinical nurse specialists, lead therapists or consultant oncologists. No other cancer education provider has access to such high-quality clinical specialists.
