radiographer
Someone who works with X-rays and radiotherapy. A therapeutic radiographer uses radiation to treat disease. A diagnostic radiographer uses radiation to diagnose or find problems (for example by taking X-rays).
radiologist
Doctor who specialises in interpreting X-rays for diagnosis. Radiologists will also often perform other imaging procedures for diagnosis, for example ultrasound or CT scans.
radiotherapist
Someonewho specialises in delivering radiotherapy as a treatment for cancer.

reconstructive surgery
Surgery to restore as much function or appearance as possible. For example, reconstructive surgery following a mastectomy would be used to rebuild tissue to replace the breast.
recurrence
Return or regrowth of cancer cells after treatment that originally controlled the cancer.
relapse
Return or regrowth of cancer cells after treatment has finished.
remission
The period during which a disease is under control. A remission is not necessarily a cure.
resection
To remove or cut out a cancer by surgery.
retroperitoneal
In the deep part of the abdomen, behind the organs and intestines.
