A team of 10 Royal Marsden staff members and supporters of the Hospital are putting on their running shoes to take part in the British 10K London Run on 6 July.

Scott Pollock, Discharge Co-ordinator at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, has been the driving force behind the running team.

He said: “I think people have seen the fantastic effort Royal Marsden staff put in to get the Chelsea Hospital back up to business the wake of the January fire and they just wanted to do their bit to help the Hospital ‘get up and running’

“I ended up with a waiting list of people who wanted to take part.”

Scott did the run last year, but many of his team mates have never attempted anything like this before.

“Everyone has set themselves achievable goals and their training seems to be going quite well.

“The important thing is the fundraising though – as that is what will ultimately help the hospital remain at the forefront of cancer care, treatment and research.”

Catherine Lozes, a physiotherapist at The Royal Marsden, is one of those taking part.

“I’ve never run 10K before, so it all feels like a big challenge – but I am very proud to be running for The Royal Marsden.”
