Anne Carey - new Divisional Director of Cancer Services
Anne Carey has been welcomed as The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust’s new Divisional Director of Cancer Services.
The role is a new one, created earlier this year during a management restructure.
Anne has come to The Royal Marsden from three years at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, where she headed up the Evelina Children’s Hospital at St Thomas’. Before that she worked at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust.
Anne, who has two young children and lives in the Kensington and Chelsea area, said: “It is very exciting being here and to take on such a new role.
“My first impressions of The Royal Marsden are fantastic. I really believe that the patient is at the heart of everything the hospital does and I feel that staff across the Trust really are in it together with the patients.”
She added: “This will be a very challenging job, especially as cancer service provision is so high on the national agenda and there is so much happening at the hospital in terms of the new developments in paediatrics and haemato-oncology. It is a very exciting time.”
During the management restructure, the hospital’s rare and common cancers divisions were amalgamated into one large Cancer Services Division.
This is now being led by Anne. As well as this change, the Clinical Services Division has expanded to include the Transitional Care Unit and Rehabilitation, which is lead by Fran Davies, Divisional Director of the Clinical Services Division.
